Opinion Dynamics is seeking an experienced editor / deliverables manager to lead the drive in providing our clients and prospective clients with the best possible presentation of our work and capabilities. Your multifaceted role as editor, writer, deliverables manager, and researcher will be critical to helping us to continually improve our deliverables and win new business.


The editor / deliverables manager will work closely with our analytics team to help us communicate our analyses effectively and in a simple, easy-to-understand manner. In addition to editing our reports and proposals, the successful candidate will assist with a variety of marketing tasks. More specifically, the incoming person will be responsible for:

  • Editing reports and proposals for style, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and spelling, but also identifying potential gaps in analysis or arguments
  • Providing constructive editorial feedback to writers
  • Planning, coordinating, and prioritizing the short-term and long-term editorial calendar
  • Managing document version control
  • Developing client-specific style guides
  • Developing internal processes to improve the quality of deliverables and production efficiency
  • Recruiting and developing additional editorial talent as the company grows
  • Participating in proposal planning sessions to fully understand the requirements and strategy for our proposal responses
  • Developing content for our newsletters and website by interviewing and collaborating with analytic staff and writing articles
  • Ensuring our project descriptions, resumes, and staff bios are continually updated, have a consistent look and feel, and are tailored to the proposals we are writing
  • Developing original copy for news releases and other external marketing copy with our Executive VP of Client Relations

We are looking for candidates with 5-10 years of experience since their undergraduate education with solid analytical and writing skills who are naturally curious about research and energy and social issues. A willingness to stretch abilities and a tenacity to get things done are important attributes of the ideal candidate. The right candidate will have:

  • BA/BS or MS degree (especially candidates with English, journalism, communications degrees are preferred)
  • 5 or more years of technical writing and editing experience
  • Exceptional expertise in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. You need to be our in-house expert in MS Word.
  • Strong proof reading and editorial skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong analytics and fact-checking skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • An ability to structure and present arguments in support of a position using a combination of text and graphical constructs
  • Knowledge of both the Chicago Manual of Style and the AP Style Guide
  • Ability to adopt specific editorial styles depending on client needs and preferences
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to be flexible with priorities, responsibilities, and deadlines
  • Comfort with working in a highly detail-oriented and fast-paced environment
  • Comfort working with and coordinating a variety of research professionals
  • Self-starter approach to work with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility
  • Interest in energy policy and research
