Opinion Dynamics is looking for inquisitive and enthusiastic individuals to join our team of energy industry researchers and consultants. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys an analytical challenge, relishes learning new things, and is excited to work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, statisticians, and social scientists. In this role, you will work with the Opinion Dynamics’ Data Science group and staff around the country to solve complex research and energy policy questions such as how to effectively measure the impact of energy efficiency or demand response programs on the electricity grid.

The Quantitative Data Analyst will be a key member of our Data Science group and is responsible for:

  • Working in collaboration with Data Science group members to develop analytical methodologies that address client needs
  • Managing, aggregating and cleaning data sets including utility billing data and meter data
  • Conducting modeling to determine the energy and demand impacts of energy efficiency and demand response programs
  • Interpreting results and developing data visualizations to illustrate key findings
  • Contributing to key client deliverables such as presentations, reports and technical appendices


We are looking for candidates with demonstrated experience conducting statistical or econometric modeling, strong critical thinking skills, impeccable detail-orientation, and a commitment to conducting their work with the highest level of integrity. Applicants should also have the ability to work effectively independently, as well as in teams. Specific requirements for the position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or Ph.D. in econometrics, statistics, political science, sociology or a related field
  • Strong statistical analysis and modeling skills preferably using Stata or R
  • Strong programming skills in one or more programming languages (R, SQL, Python, etc.)
  • Experience cleaning and managing data sets
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and/or demand response
