Opinion Dynamics is growing and is seeking a new team member to join our Data Analytics team. In this role, you will get to apply your analytical expertise, backed by your knowledge of and experience in the clean energy space.  Our ideal candidate will bring a solid quantitative skillset at the cross-section of data science, statistics, and econometrics combined with the ability to effectively navigate a consulting firm’s dynamic and collaborative environment. You will have demonstrated applied experience performing advanced analytics of interval energy consumption and equipment telematics data streams to support load impact or forecasting studies of clean energy interventions such as energy efficiency, demand response, electric vehicles, or other distributed energy resources (DERs).

As a member of the Data Analytics team, you will lead the analytic design process and oversee the effective execution of analytically complex and computationally intensive projects. You will collaborate with our in-house Data Management, Engineering, and other teams to ensure that analytical solutions are supported and enhanced by sound data management and building science practices. While your primary function on projects will be defining the analytic design and overseeing the work, this is a hands-on role, and when needed, you will jump into the details of analyses to guide staff. Your day-to-day will involve providing the necessary oversight and support to ensure both high-quality, accurate work products and the professional development of less experienced analytic staff. As a methodological expert in the organization, you will participate in client-facing conversations, contribute to proposals and business development efforts, and effectively translate concepts between technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in economics, statistics, data science, quantitative social science, political science, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree with sufficient applied professional experience will be considered.
  • At least 2+ years in the clean energy space, ideally conducting advanced analyses leveraging load and other data streams in a research and consulting environment.
  • Advanced programmer in R with knowledge of machine learning and data science approaches and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced statistical approaches and evaluation and measurement practices and standards, for example, in the spaces of flexible load, time-varying rates, managed charging, decarbonization, energy efficiency, or grid resiliency interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting advanced statistical analyses with large volumes of interval load data.
  • Skilled in big data analytics and corresponding tools and practices.
  • Skilled in data management and data visualization.
  • Passionate about mentoring and training less experienced analysts.
  • Critical thinker who is curious, comfortable with complexity, a strong communicator, and has a strong consulting mindset.
  • Passionate about cultivating analytical innovation; comfortable tackling complex statistical problems through new and unexplored methods and data streams.
  • Excited to serve in a hands-on role to ensure 1) the choice of rigorous and appropriate methodological solutions, 2) the successful execution of analytical tasks within agreed-upon timelines and budgets, and 3) the production of client-ready analytic outputs.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced programmer in Python.
  • Experience with version control software (e.g., Git) and collaborative code development.
  • Knowledge of DER data streams (e.g., solar generation, battery charge/discharge, vehicle, and device telematics).
  • Familiarity and experience conducting analyses related to building and transportation decarbonization.

Salary Range: $120K – 140K. Salary is negotiable depending on experience
